⚽ World Cup 2026

How everything works

📖 Quick guide

🏠 Home — TV schedule & live scores

The home page shows today's and tomorrow's matches, the next England & Scotland games with countdowns, and the full day-by-day TV schedule (all times UK; BBC games stream on iPlayer, ITV on ITVX).

Live scores

While the page is open, scores refresh every 60 seconds straight from FIFA. In-play matches show a red LIVE badge with the minute; finished matches save themselves to the standings automatically.

Filters

Use the chips to filter: ⭐ My teams (England & Scotland), Upcoming/Played, BBC/ITV, or pick any team or group from the dropdowns. Filters combine.

Per match

⚽ opens the match centre · 🏆 (after full-time) opens the keepsake poster · 🌓 in the menu switches light/dark mode · 🖨️ prints any page.

📊 Standings

All 12 group tables, updated instantly from results. Green rows = top two (through to the Round of 32); yellow = third place, with the separate best-thirds table below (top 8 of the 12 thirds also advance). England & Scotland are always gold-starred. Print it for a paper copy.

✏️ Results & the match centre (admin)

Most results arrive automatically from FIFA — but you can enter or correct anything by hand.

Quick entry

The Results page lists every fixture with score boxes — type both numbers, hit 💾 Save. Clear both boxes to mark a match unplayed.

Match centre (⚽)

Per match: score, venue, goalscorers (with minute, penalty/own-goal tags), line-ups (one player per line) and a 📷 photo — all of it feeds the keepsake poster. For own goals, pick the team the goal counted for.

🏟️ Knockout bracket

Round of 32 through to the Final, with real venues and UK kick-off times. Slots show seedings (1E = Group E winners, 3ABCDF = one of the best thirds) until teams are confirmed — then 🔄 sync with FIFA fills in actual teams, scores and penalty shoot-outs. Prints as an A3 landscape wall bracket (or scale-to-fit on A4).

🏆 Keepsake posters

Every finished match automatically gets a framed memorabilia poster — tournament header, flags, big scoreline, goalscorers, line-ups, your photo, date/venue/channel.

Sizes & formats

On each gallery card or on the poster itself, pick A5 / A4 / A3. Then either 🖨️ Print (choose the matching paper size — or "Save as PDF" in the print dialog for a PDF copy) or ⬇️ Download PNG for a high-resolution image you can share or print at a shop.

Examples

The admin can generate six sample results so you can see posters before the real matches finish — removable with one click, and they never touch real results.

🥇 Stats & Golden Boot

Top-scorer leaderboard built from the goalscorers entered in match centres (own goals don't count for the scorer), plus goals per group, biggest win, highest-scoring match, clean sheets, and the after-midnight badge of honour — late-night kick-offs you stayed up for.

🔮 Predictions game

Everyone predicts each score before kick-off. Exact score = 3 points, right result = 1 point. The leaderboard ranks players by points, then exact scores. After a result: gold cell = exact, green = right result, faded = miss.

Playing as a guest

Sign up takes 10 seconds — pick a name and a PIN (4+ characters) on the sign-in page. You can only edit your own column, predictions lock at kick-off, and other players' picks show 🔒 until the match starts — no copying.

💡 Tips & odds — what the numbers mean

Under every match that hasn't been played yet you'll see a line like:

💡 2–1 · Scotland should edge it · 1 3.82 X 4.79 2 1.89

The tip

💡 2–1 is the model's suggested scoreline, and the phrase ("strong favourites", "should edge it", "too close to call…") is its one-line verdict on the matchup.

The odds — 1 / X / 2

Classic football betting notation: 1 = the first (home) team wins · X = draw · 2 = the second (away) team wins.

Fractions or decimals — your choice

By default prices show as traditional UK fractions: 4/5 means stake £5 to win £4 profit — an odds-on favourite. 11/4 means stake £4 to win £11. Shorter fraction = bigger favourite. Prefer decimals? Hit the Odds format button (Home or Odds page) and every price switches to decimal (total return per £1: 1.80 = £1.80 back) — remembered across pages. Hover any odds for the win percentages for that exact match.

📈 The dedicated Odds page

The 📈 Odds page in the menu lists every upcoming match bookmaker-board style: market odds (bold row) and the model (light row) side by side, plus a favourite column ("Mexico 2/5 fav"). Filter by Today, Tomorrow or ⭐ My teams.

Where the numbers come from — important!

These are not live bookmaker odds. They're a form guide computed by this app from each team's FIFA-ranking points (an Elo-style win/draw/win probability model). They give every match a sensible steer for your predictions, but they don't move with team news, injuries or betting markets — and they will cheerfully be wrong sometimes. That's football. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

📈 Live market odds (optional)

If the admin has added a free key from The Odds API (free tier — 500 credits/month, this app uses ~60), a second set appears: 📈 1 2.10 X 3.40 2 3.60 — the average of real UK bookmakers, refreshed up to twice a day. Same 1/X/2 format.

Turning them off

The 💡 Odds/Tips toggle (on the Home and Predictions pages) hides them everywhere if you'd rather go with your gut — your choice is remembered.

💰 WC Coins — betting, accas, sweepstake & more

Everything here uses WC Coins — fun money with no real-world value. Everyone starts with 1,000 coins; the leaderboard on the Odds page shows who's up and who's skint.

Single bets

On the 📈 Odds page, pick an outcome and a stake next to any upcoming match and hit Bet. You get the current market odds (or the model's if no market). Bets settle automatically at full-time — win and you get stake × odds back.

🎰 Accumulators

Use the button next to the bet form to add picks to your acca slip (bottom-right). 2–10 different matches, the odds multiply… and one wrong leg loses the whole slip. The slip shows combined odds and potential returns live.

🏆 Back a champion

Under the tournament-favourites list, back any team to lift the trophy at today's outright odds — settles after the Final on 19 July. Spain at 9/2 now could look very clever (or very Spanish) by then.

🎩 Sweepstake

On the Predictions page the admin can draw the sweepstake: all 48 teams dealt randomly between the players. Each team shows ⚽ still in, 🥵 sweating on the best-thirds, ❌ out, or 👑 champions.

🎁 Daily bonus & insurance

Predict every match of a day (before each one kicks off) and you earn a +50 coin bonus for that day. And if you do your brains completely — under 100 coins with no bets pending — bankrupt insurance quietly tops you back up to 100 so you're never out of the game.

📋 Wall chart

The classic single-page chart: all 72 group fixtures with dates, UK times, channels and blank score boxes. Choose A4 or A3 landscape, print, stick it on the fridge, fill it in by biro — or reprint any time and played matches come pre-filled.

📤 Exports

From the home page or standings: CSV (fixtures+results with scorers, or standings — opens in Excel), JSON (full data dump), and 📅 Calendar (.ics) — import into Google Calendar, Outlook or your phone so every kick-off appears with its channel. There's a separate calendar with just England & Scotland.

🌐 Going online — admin & guests

Out of the box the app is in local mode: everything open, perfect on your own PC.

Online mode

Set an admin password in ⚙️ Admin and the app locks down: guests can browse everything (schedule, standings, bracket, posters, stats, wall chart, exports) but all editing — results, scorers, photos, FIFA syncs, examples — needs the admin login.

Guest accounts

Guests join the predictions game with a quick name + PIN signup. In Admin you choose: allow predictions on/off, open signup vs invite-only, reset PINs, remove players.

Hosting safely

Copy the worldcup2026 folder to a PHP host (PHP 8 + MySQL), import the database, update db.php credentials, use HTTPS, set the admin password before sharing the link. Never expose your home XAMPP to the internet.
